Webmercials are the new video commercial clips targeted specifically to be played via the web. As the Internet bandwidth improved over the years the video became a very dominant tool on the Web.
High quality webmercials are considered a tool to significantly increase the conversion rate, i.e. the probability that a visitor on the website becomes a customer. The actual text is less interesting with all the video clips playing around because people just do not like to read a lot.

Once upon a time we had the Navigator dominating the personal computer screens. The Internet Explorer IE had a hard time competing with Navigator till Microsoft bought IE and incorporated the IE browser into the Windows Operating System.
Today IE is competing with new browsers such as Fire-Fox and Chrome. Why should we care? As a surfer you should simply choose the browser with the best user experience for you. But if you are a website owner or a website promoter then it should matter.
